(Dan Tri) – `Peach, Pho and Piano` – The movie using the State budget has caused a fever recently – earning nearly 21 billion VND and breaking even after nearly 3 months of release.
This is information given by Ms. Ly Phuong Dung – Deputy Director of the Cinema Department – at the meeting with the Union of Vietnamese Literary and Art Associations and Central specialized literary and art associations in the first quarter.
The conference was recently held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH-TT&DL).

Talking more specifically with Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Ly Phuong Dung said, Dao, Pho and Piano earned 20.8 billion VND (as of March 11) and broke even after nearly 3 months of release.
By March, the film had been distributed and distributed nationwide by 17 distributors, theaters and Cinema Cultural Centers in several provinces/cities.
In fact, if calculated according to the market price, specifically the ratio between the producer and the publisher, the movie Dao, Pho and Piano must earn 50 billion VND to break even.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong explained that the movie Dao, Pho and Piano broke even because private film distribution units agreed to release the film in their theaters and all ticket revenue returned to the budget.

Regarding the production and dissemination of films using the State budget, sharing at the Conference, Ms. Ly Phuong Dung said that the provisions of the Cinema Law and sub-law documents have been mentioned quite fully.
However, this still has many shortcomings.
In particular, the unit price for ordering the production of a feature film includes direct production costs and 100 million VND for promotion and organization of a movie premiere.
`The production costs of films using the State budget do not keep up with market prices. Movies have very large production and promotion costs. Meanwhile, the State budget is quite small and has no promotion costs.
Specifically, the budget is 500 million VND for printing film copies and propaganda materials for film weeks and major holidays, making subtitles and printing film copies and propaganda materials for introduction work.

Faced with difficulties related to the production and dissemination of films using the State budget, the representative of the Cinema Department proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism direct advisory and management agencies to continue researching and developing films.
Leaders of the Cinema Department propose to review relevant regulations for adjustments or coordinate with other ministries and branches to propose adjustments to ensure the system of legal documents is consistent in viewpoints and policies.
It is necessary to supplement regulations to have a basis for performing the task of combining film production from state budget sources and socialization sources, and the task of distributing and disseminating films in general, with a focus on distributing and disseminating films.
Ms. Phuong Dung proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism regulate budget sources for the promotion, distribution and dissemination of films using the State budget.
Previously, in an interview with Dan Tri reporter, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 316/QD-BVHTTDL approving the Plan for publishing and disseminating
`After this pilot release and dissemination period, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with relevant agencies to research, build and complete the legal framework for popularizing and releasing films using the State budget.
Towards harmonious implementation of goals serving political tasks;
Dao, Pho and Piano and Female Artist of Hong Ha are two state films included in the pilot release and dissemination plan for a number of films produced using the state budget issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The two films were released together on February 10 (the first day of the Lunar New Year) at the National Cinema Center – a film screening unit under the Ministry, but thanks to the social network effect, Dao, Pho and Piano quickly `caused a stir.`
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism once shared with Dan Tri reporter that this is a good sign for the country’s cinema in general and State-ordered films in particular, because films about historical topics are inherently difficult to make and
