(Dan Tri) – According to the Defense Attaché of the Ukrainian Embassy in the US, the Ukrainian army has found a weapon that can be considered an enemy of Russian UAVs.

In an interview on October 7, Major General Borys Kremenetsky, Defense Attaché of the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, D.C, USA, affirmed that the SA-8 Gecko air defense complexes are becoming the enemy of

In particular, according to the Wall Street Journal, many SA-8 Gecko missiles in Ukrainian military service were transferred to Kiev by the US government, despite the fact that this complex was produced by the Soviet Union.

The above systems are believed to come from foreign arsenals that US military units and the intelligence community have collected in various ways over many years for intelligence analysis and training purposes.

SA-8 Gecko, also known as 9k33 Osa, is a short-range mobile air defense complex.

Mounted on the chassis of a 6×6 wheeled armored vehicle, the SA-8 Gecko has a range of about 30km and a travel speed of up to 80km/h.

Recently, the Russian army’s suicide UAVs are causing many difficulties for the Ukrainian army.

On September 26, at the headquarters of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky had an important meeting with military commanders and senior officials of the Kiev government to discuss the situation.

At this meeting, Mr. Zelensky admitted that the Russian military’s active use of new weapons such as the Shahed-136 and Mohajer-6 UAVs has been causing many challenges to the Ukrainian army’s combat plans.

To counter the above threat, engineers and scientists of the Ukrainian army immediately began researching debris and some captured UAVs to quickly find ways to counter this new weapon.

In July, the US accused Iran of planning to supply many attack UAVs to Russia, but Tehran denied.
