The Prime Minister of Thailand donates his entire salary to charity

(Dan Tri) – Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will spend her entire monthly salary to donate to charity organizations.

Thai government spokesman Chai Wacharonke announced that Prime Minister Srettha will spend his entire monthly salary to contribute to various charities.

Mr. Srettha, who also serves as Finance Minister, receives a total of 125,590 Baht per month (3,400 USD).

According to Mr. Chai, Mr. Srettha said that giving is good and one should give as much as possible.

There will be a working group responsible for selecting the charities to receive the donations.

Mr. Srettha emphasized that charity is a good thing and everyone can do good deeds according to their abilities.

The prime minister, who was once a real estate tycoon, claimed that his salary could help people in immediate need.

If Prime Minister Srettha stays in office until the end of his 4-year term, he will donate more than 6 million baht (more than 163,000 USD) to charity.

`I did charity work even before becoming Prime Minister. It was my personal wish. I will never pressure other government officials to follow me. They all have a burden to bear.`

With the goal of reviving export activities and increasing investor confidence, Mr. Srettha and the 11-party coalition government have pledged a series of populist measures to boost the economy, including debt moratorium for

Prime Minister Srettha, who took office earlier this month, said that the economic situation of the Southeast Asian country is `not too good`.

Thailand’s economy is expected to grow 2.8% this year, but Mr. Srettha set a target of 5%.

The Thai government has announced plans to reduce energy prices, train ticket prices in the city and plans to implement measures to reduce the cost of living for people and boost investment in the 500 million dollar economy.

Mr. Srettha was born in 1963. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok and his master’s degree in finance from Claremont School in the US.

At the end of 2022, he decided to enter politics and became a member of the Pheu Thai party, a party related to the Shinawatra family.

He is known to have a broad vision and to be close to the public, including the younger generation.
