At the beginning of summer 2014 last year, the Vietnamese comic community was excited by the appearance of a purely Vietnamese work with a sports theme – Soccer Academy.
Many people say that the length of Soccer Academy is too short when the story only lasts 10 volumes and was published in 1 year before it came to an end.
Going back to more than a year ago when the comic book Vietnam – Football Academy was just published the first volume, we were lucky enough to chat with the author of the story, artist Le Bach and hear from him.
Accordingly, because Vietnamese readers are used to a continuous story publishing schedule (almost one episode a week or at most one episode a month), he had to work very hard to try to complete the manuscript.
If you regularly follow Japanese manga, you certainly know that the Japanese artists’ drawing progress of 3 pages a day is already amazing.
Not only artist Le Bach but also Tre Publishing House faced many difficulties in releasing this purely Vietnamese comic work.
Besides, you can see that the selling price of Soccer Academy is only equivalent to a Japanese comic book translated and sold on the Vietnamese market today while the production cost is much more expensive than buying it.
Recently, Tre Publishing House has started releasing the 10th and final volume in the Football Academy comic series, leaving a lot of regret for the Vietnamese comic-loving community.
However, fans of the Football Academy should not be sad because when this door closes, another door will open.
